| Hi, if you're looking to learn more
about Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Exchange
Server 2007, SQL Server 2005, IIS 7.0, and Windows-related technologies, you've
come to the right place. I've been a writer and instructional trainer for nearly 20 years.
If you've enjoyed my books, I
think you'll like my public seminars and training
courses even more. My classes are small and
personalized, and packed with information. Because I
like speaking to small groups rather than crowds, every
class is limited to 12 attendees, with most classes
having 8 to 12. I think you'll agree that my personal
approach makes all
the difference in the world. -- William R. Stanek Want to know what people have said about my work and training courses? Read the testimonials... Why take my training courses? Read about my effective training techniques and guarantees... |

Notes (June 2007): All 2007 training dates are filled or already completed. Thank you to all attendees past and present for helping to make this one of the best technical training programs around! Your feedback and requests have been excellent.
Notes (July 2007): Most classes fill 6 to 9 months in advance. Do not purchase a training date without first contacting me to ensure the date is still open (williamstanek at aol dot com). Based on feedback from past attendees, I've consolidated some courses and extended others. Active Directory and Group Policy is now taught in one course. I've extended training for Exchange Server, IIS, and SQL Server to 5-day courses. These were originally 3-day courses, and this just wasn't enough time.
I've dropped the Network Infrastructure, Disaster Planning & Recovery, and Windows Clustering/NLB courses. Materials from these courses have been incorporated into other courses where appropriate. I can also teach these as separate courses upon request.
Each 5-day course is the equivalent of a 40-hour college course. With the exception of the desktop administration course, students must have an excellent background in computers beforehand and several years experience as a Windows user. This helps ensure students are ready for the advanced materials covered in the courses.
The intensive 12-day course is the equivalent of three 40-hour college courses. To be fair to other intensive course attendees, all students must have a solid technical background that includes at least 12 to 18 months in a Windows support or Windows administrative role.
As those who have attended my courses know, I have a very hands-on approach. Previously, I limited classes to 16 students to ensure classes were more personal and hands-on. I've reduced the attendance limit to 12 to allow for an even more focused approach. To allow for special circumstances, such as a student who has already paid for a training date but needs to attend an alternate training date, I reserve the right to increase class size to 14 students.

I teach all classes. There will never be a substitute. Here's the bio blurb if you need to know more:
William R. Stanek (williamstanek@aol.com) has over 20 years of hands-on experience with advanced programming and development. He is a leading technology expert and an award-winning author. Over the years, his practical advice has helped millions of programmers, developers and network engineers all over the world. He has written over 50 computer books, which are sold all over the world and there are more than 3 million copies of his books in print. Current or forthcoming books include Windows Server 2008 Inside Out, Windows Command-Line Administrator's Pocket Consultant, Exchange Server 2007 Administrator's Pocket Consultant 2nd Edition, Windows Server 2008 Administrator's Pocket Consultant, Windows Vista Administrator's Pocket Consultant and IIS 7.0 Administrator's Pocket Consultant.
William has an MS in Information Systems degree with distinction and a BS Computer Science degree magna cum laude. He is proud to have served in the Persian Gulf War as a combat crewmember on an electronic warfare aircraft. He flew on numerous combat missions into Iraq and was awarded nine medals for his wartime service, including one of the United States of America's highest flying honors, the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross. Currently, he resides in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and children.
What do I offer other instructors don't? My style is non-traditional. Some would call it--gasp--unorthodox; I prefer to think of it more as nonconformist. And, it's the same style I've been using ever since I started instructing. Trust me, you'll have fun, be challenged and learn. Plus I prefer to teach small groups and give personalized instruction, rather than to instruct large groups and give more generalized instruction. I try to build in time for one-on-one, and provide other personalized opportunities to help you maximize your learning. All seminars are limited to 12 attendees, with most seminars having 8-12 attendees. *I reserve the right to increase class size to 14 attendees as may be necessary to accommodate special circumstances, such as a student who has already paid for a training date but needs to attend an alternate training date.
Why attend? I'm one of the world's foremost Windows experts. I'm one of the few instructors who is an expert in Windows, Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange Server, and IIS. The many books I've written on these subjects and subjects like scripting and command-line administration, provide a unique learning opportunity.
Why Olympia, Lacey, or Tacoma? All my training courses and seminars are currently conducted in Washington. The beautiful city of Olympia and its sister city Lacey are located in the South Puget Sound. A quick 20 - 45-minute drive from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and an hour and a half from Portland, Oregon. Having a central training location lets me teach a wider variety of courses than I otherwise would be able to if I was always traveling. So why not escape the traffic and come to South Puget Sound? Hotel costs are lower; there's little traffic; many dining choices are close to training; and the overall experience is first-rate. I think you'll find my training seminars are a new and refreshing change of pace.
Why did you move most of the training to Lacey, Olympia, or Tacoma? Primarily because of better prices for attendees, more catering options, and more conference options. I was able to ensure good rates for rooms (about $60/night on average), plus there's free or low-cost shuttle service to the airport -- all together that saves you $200 - $300 on hotel and travel expenses. Plus with the additional catering and conference options, I can do more and, I hope, make the overall experience better.
